Important Change!!

There has been a change during the meeting and we need everyone's help in spreading the word!  Friday July 3rd worship services will be held at NTC instead of the auditorium at RSU.  If you know of anyone driving in that day please let them know.

We are getting super close to the June 10th deadline for dorm and meal reservations.  If you have not made yours yet please contact Jamie Newhart @  918-633-0528 or jamie2-newhart@sbcglobal.net

Important Dates

Just want to remind everyone about important dates coming up and information we need to make the summer meeting a success.

LODGING:  Jamie needs to know how many beds you will need and who you want to share your pod with.  As well as exact nights you will be staying.

MEALS:  Jamie also needs to know the exact number of meals you will be eating each day.  For example:  2 people eating Monday or 5 people eating Tuesday.  We are required to give the college a head count each day for the meal.  Remember kids 5 and under eat free.  Let Jamie know when making meal reservations if you have kids 5 and under.

***DORM & MEAL RESERVATIONS NEED TO BE MADE BY JUNE 10***
Jamie: 918-633-0528
message her on Facebook

LADIES TEA:  Please let us know if you are planning on going to the Ladies Tea Monday morning.  We need to give The Pink House a head count.

PANCAKE SUPPER:  Let us know if you plan on going to the pancake supper after services on Wednesday night.  They would like an approximate head count.  This should be a lot of fun!

ROPES COURSE:  Please let us know if you are even thinking about participating in the Ropes Course on Thursday.  Last year so many people decided to do the Ropes Course we had to turn some away because the college couldn't find enough workers at the last minute.  So if you are even thinking about doing it we want to let the college know so they can be prepared.  They can always send some of the workers home if they need to but they can't find them at the last minute.

SING ON:  We are hoping you are all preparing songs for the Sing On that will take place on Friday!  Everyone really enjoyed listening to the small groups last year and we would love to hear more of you this year!

Saturday July, 4th

Saturday morning will start with the sunrise singing at 7:00 a.m. at the amphitheater at RSU.  This will be our worship service for the day.  For those who were there last year you may remember the chigger problem.  We will try to have the area sprayed this year, but you might want to bring some bug spray!!

At 10:00 a.m. the Hays have graciously invited everyone out to their place for fun and fellowship.  There will be lots of "good ole county" fun with plenty of room for the the kids to run and play.  Some of us here at Spunky Creek are working on a little treat for your entertainment, so stay tuned for that!! A BBQ lunch with all the fixings will be served as well.  There will be a couple of different options for viewing fireworks that evening to help celebrate Independence Day.

SING-ON

Last year everyone really enjoyed listening to the few groups who participated in the Sing-On.  We would LOVE to have more groups sing this year!  The aim is to have groups of 2 or more prepare 3-4 songs to be sung a cappella.  They could be well known congregational songs or some uplifting songs not so well suited to congregational singing.  This will be at 2:00 at RSU.

The group meal will be at 4:00 in the banquet hall:
spaghetti (not sure of all the sides!)

The worship service will be at 6:00 in the auditorium at RSU with Bro.Grady Dunavant speaking on "True Worship & the Lord's Supper"

Ropes Course

The Hilltop Challenge (ropes course) is recommended for anyone over age 12.  It is designed to build confidence and teamwork among participants using a combination of games, obstacle courses, and problem solving activities.  The degree to which each person participates is the individuals' choice, based on what the person can comfortably and willingly risk.  No one is required, forced, or coerced to perform any activity.  The participants will do low elements in the morning and move on to high elements in the afternoon.  Some of the elements include a zip line, platforms, logs, games, climbing wall and other activities.  The fee is $35.  All participants under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent.  For the course overview, please visit www.rsu.edu/hilltopchallenge

If you have any questions or want to participate in the ropes course please contact Julie Hays at jhchays@yahoo.com or 918-629-8499 or let Jamie know when you make your dorm reservations.  It is very important that even if you MIGHT be interested in doing this to please let us know.  Last year we had to turn people away because the college didn't have enough workers.  We want to make sure that doesn't happen this year, so let us know if you are thinking about it.  It's ok if you change your mind that week.  All participants MUST have closed-toe tennis shoes.  The ropes course will begin at 8:00 a.m. and last most of the day.

At 4:00 the meal will be served in the banquet room:
bacon wrapped chopped sirloin steak
salad

Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."

The Spunky Creek Church of Christ will be hosting the 2015 SUMMER MEETING and is looking forward to seeing all of you again.  The theme and goal of this meeting will be to encourage and strengthen each other through a renewed study of some of the core beliefs of God's Word, thus equipping each other to go into our communities with the "Light of God" displayed in our hearts and lives.

Thank You!!

All of us here at Spunky Creek and Claremore cannot say THANK YOU enough to everyone.  We have heard nothing but positive feedback from all of you about the summer meeting.  But we want everyone to know it was such a successful meeting because of all of you being here!!  We could have planned and organized all we wanted but without you being here it would have fallen flat!

I would like to say "thank you & AMEN" to all the speakers of the week.  It was obvious they put a lot of time and effort into their lessons.  They were all very edifying and uplifting, gave us lots to think and study on.  I'll let you know as soon as we get those CDs done and mailed out.

In case you haven't heard, Skylar Cutchall was baptized shortly after the meeting!  God bless all of our new brothers and sisters in Christ!  Let's be in constant prayer for the future of the church.

Love to you all!  Until we meet again…….

Suggestions on What to Bring

The Summer Meeting is just one week away!  All of us here at Spunky Creek are so excited to see everyone!  I thought I would give some suggestions on things you might bring for the week.  It might be handy to bring outdoor chairs/blankets, bug spray, and sunscreen.  Also a reminder, we have been told the auditorium lighting is slightly dim.

For those staying in the dorms here is a list of stuff you will need:
extra long twin size sheets (queen or king would work as well)
hand soap for bathrooms/kitchen
cooking utensils/items
towels
breakfast and lunch food

The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, oven/stove, dishwasher.  There is NO coffee pot, microwave, dishes, or pots and pans.

We are providing trash cans with liners, toilet paper and shower curtains.

There are coin operated washers and dryers available.

And of course if anyone forgets anything there is "good ole" Wal-Mart in town and several grocery stores.  Any of us "locals" will be happy to help anyone with any needs they will have.

Please do not hesitate to contact any of us with questions.  I'm sure there are things I didn't think about that could be added to the list.

The first Sunday service will be at the Northeast Technology Center:  1901 N Hwy 88 Claremore, OK 74017-MUST use zip code in GPS!

Fun Trip for Thursday July 3rd

We have a really neat trip planned for Thursday, July 3rd.  For anyone who is interested we are going to The Shepherd's Cross.  This is a working sheep farm in the Claremore area.  It is a beautiful setting out in the country with lots of room for the kids to run and play.  It is a great place for some picture taking!  This trip will involve a hay ride, garden tour, and some fun indoor activities as well.  It is perfect for all ages.    Not only will this be educational, but inspirational too.  We will learn about raising sheep and all that involves, but also be reminded about The Great Shepherd and how He takes care of His flock.  We have a time reserved for just our group at 1:30 that afternoon.  You can check out their website at www.shepherdscross.com.

All of us here at Spunky Creek are really excited about the meeting!  Please don't hesitate to contact any of us with any questions or concerns.

Important Date Coming Up

The June 1st deadline is quickly approaching!!

We MUST have everyone's dorm reservations by that date for the college.

We also need meal reservations as well.  At this point it looks like the meals are going to be about $5.00 per person with children 5 and under eating free.  Even if you cannot send the money for your meals that is fine, but go ahead and let us know what meals you will be eating with us. We want to have plenty of food for everyone!  If you are staying in a hotel or RV park don't forget to make meal reservations.  Even if you don't want to eat all of the meals at the college you might plan on both Sundays and Friday the 4th.  We will be together all day and it will be easier and more convenient for you.  We really feel like $5.00 is quite reasonable for the meal being offered and we understand the food is very good.  On Friday we are having BBQ catered by a restaurant in Claremore that is always delicious!

For reservations or questions please contact Jamie Newhart at jamie2-newhart@sbcglobal.net or you can call or text her at 918-633-0528.

Sister Glenda wants everyone to know she is planning a very adventurous "Amazing Race" for the older kids on Wednesday the 2nd.  She is also working on a game for the younger ones to participate in as well.  So this should be a fun and exciting day for all!

Explore Claremore!

The most important reason to come to the Summer Meeting is for the fellowship and spiritual nourishment, but there are some fun things to do in Claremore while you are here!

Here are a few suggestions:

Will Rogers Memorial Museum WillRogers.com
Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch-just a short drive from Claremore
J.M. Davis Gun Museum TheGunMuseum.com
Totem Pole Park-a short drive down Route 66 RCHS1.org
the famous "Blue Whale"-in Catoosa across the highway from Spunky Creek Church of Christ
Downtown Claremore where there are antiques, antiques, and more antiques!!

An important note for those of you coming the first Sunday to the meeting.  The worship services on both Sundays will be at the Northeast Technology Center.   If you will be using a GPS or any kind of "device" for directions you MUST put in the zip code 74017 for it to get you to the correct location.  If you do not put in the zip code it takes you to a different town!  The address for NTC is:  1901 N. Hwy 88, Claremore, OK  74017.  Please help us spread the word for those who may not read the blog or Facebook.

The "Spunky Creek kids" are excited about the meeting and ready to see everyone!!

Reminder:  June 1st is the deadline for dorm and meal reservations!
